Do you Need Planning Permission to Board a Loft?

In this FAQ we’ll discuss the obstacles you might encounter when boarding a loft in terms of permission development.

Permissions and Adding Value with Loft Boarding

You do not need planning permission to board a loft, as long as the room will only be used as storage. Projects such as loft boarding are allowed under what is known as permitted development (PD) rights. Planning permission is only required for larger projects, or if you’re looking to convert your loft for living purposes.

Does Loft Boarding Add Value to your Home?

Typically, the more storage space that you have in your property, the more value your home has. Loft boarding can increase floor space in your home by up to 50%, and by using a loft ladder to gain secure and safe access to your loft will only add to the value.
